A Short History of the Township of Tyldesley

This new History of Tyldesley has been prepared at the request of the Urban District Council of Tyldesley and is published to commemorate the Coronation of Her Most Gracious Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

The Council wishes to place on record its appreciation of the public service to the community rendered by the author—John Lunn, M.A., Ph.D. (Cantab.), M.Ed., LL.B. (Manchester), and to thank him for the great amount of research which has been carried out by him in preparing this book, all this work having been done entirely free of any charge to the Council.

To the many ladies and gentlemen, organisations and associations who have afforded unlimited facilities for research, the Council also express their thanks.

The thanks of the Council are also due to those ladies and gentlemen, organisations, etc., who have given financial support to the publication of this History of Tyldesley.
